Reporting to the Depot Manager, the post holder will play a key role in the success of the Canvey Depot. Working in a fast-paced environment, the post holder will supervise a team of drivers and yard operatives, ensuring all workload and deadlines are achieved consistently. Occasional Days away may be required to attend meetings and further training at our Head Office in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire.

The post holder will ensure company targets are met or exceeded, whilst maintaining the depot to company standards at all times. The role is hands on and will be demanding as well as rewarding and will therefore require flexibility, drive and initiative.

Please note this is a physical role that may require manual lifting.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Planning Vehicle/driver routes

· Solving any driver issues

· Monitoring driver routes and checking they are completing their detracks correctly

· Booking in stock

· Monitoring drivers defects and checking they are being completed

· Monitoring all FLT defects are being completed

· Driver De-briefs

· Use of IT systems to manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs

· Use of associated information to coordinate and control the order cycle

· Evaluate performance and quality and to plan improvements

· Allocate and manage colleague resources according to changing of the business needs

· Manage colleagues

· Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures

· Implement H&S procedures

· Manage colleague training

· Manage damage to property, vehicles, products

· Making sure your warehouse/yard is tidy at all times

· Supervising unloading of deliveries

· Supervising loading of our vehicles

· Maintain efficiencies

· Delegate and supervise daily tasks and be accountable for any issues

· Customer services

· Carry out HR processes

· Liaising with the Head Office to ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained.

· Devise and implement robust processes in line with depot needs and in conjunction with the Depot Manager

· Ensuring a safe working environment is maintained.

Skills, Qualification, Experience and Competencies

· Good time management skills

· Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and offer creative solutions

· Commercial awareness and numeracy skills

· Ability to manage changes

· Sound organisational and planning skills with a hands-on approach

· Able to be flexible and multitask

· Experience and understanding of managing HR issues and e.g., performance, return to work meetings, etc

· Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Packages

· Excellent care and attention to detail

· Able to remain calm in a fast paced, high-pressured environment.

· Self-motivated, with the ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently.

· Good communication skills

· Able to motivate a team to achieve targets, lead a team to success, as well as working as part of a team.

· Good interpersonal skills.

· Proven ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

· Enthusiastic, reliable with a positive attitude.

· SAP experience would be advantageous

· Willingness to learn and adapt

Salary: Between £32k-£35k

Hours: 50 hours per week between between the hours of 7am - 6pm. Hours will be reflected by you and business requirements.
