Job description
OCU Group continues through 2024 with its significant growth. As part of this, we now have a new opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join OCU Northavon (Part of the wider OCU Group) in Exeter and South Moulton.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- As a Mechanical Fitter for Northavon Group, it will be your responsibility to deliver mechanical projects within the water industry.
- Applicants are required to have relevant engineering qualifications in your chosen field as well as having an excellent understanding of Health and Safety.
- Reporting to Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day to day running of your own projects, to include but not limited to the installation of ductile iron pipework, PVC & ABS pipework, electrofusion pipework, changing of pumps, unblocking of pumps, changing/replacing pump parts.
- Applicants may on occasions be asked to work late evenings or weekend.
- Conducting initial site survey of proposed works and creating job packs; highlighting and raising any areas of safety concern.
- Responsible for productivity, compliance.
- Supporting with the planning of projects.
- Site meetings to discuss works / timescales, site conditions and resource requirements.
- Weekly planning, track sheets, record keeping, and resource bookings.
- Weekly site inspections for HSE & quality.
- Support in the development and production of RAMS as required.
- Solve site problems and report to PM.
- Maintain site records & raise any additional works with QS.
- Closeout paperwork and job pack at end of schemes.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Applicants are expected to have or have previously held any relevant City & Guilds Mechanical Fitter or Engineering qualifications.
- Experienced in M&E and MEICA works delivery.
- SSSTS.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS card holder.
- Confined Space training or awareness.
- EUSR.
- Ability to measure and record daily progress accurately.
- Knowledge of Mechanical installation.
- Strong Safety Background.
- Previous Water experience beneficial.
