About the role
The Data Analyst role works within the Strategy & Insights team to produce insights that answer key questions and drive data-driven decisions.
The day-to-day of this role is defined by variety. You will apply your data expertise to analyse a wide array of complex datasets to strengthen the business’ strategy.
In this role, you will have material impact. You will work across the organisation (up to the senior management team) to deliver actionable insights.
The team
The Data Analyst reports into the Head of Strategy of TalkTalk Group’s platform business. Workload and day-to-day support is provided by the team’s Senior Insights Analyst.
The Strategy & Insights team sits in Finance and is based in TalkTalk HQ in Salford. It is a multi-facetted team which supports the formulation, validation, and execution of the business strategy.
Key stakeholders include the central Data teams, other Data hubs, various domain experts, and business decision makers.
What you will be working on
Analysis
Analyse complex datasets in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI, to develop, design, build and iterate reports and dashboards.
Create papers and presentations to share findings and data-led recommendations with stakeholders.
Project management
Work directly with management, executives, and users to shape requirements, advise on solution and deliver the work packages.
Best practice & Cross-functional collaboration
Research, share and implement Insights & Analytics best practice.
Provide support in the business-wide Analyst Community which will work to improve the effectiveness of the organisation’s analytical capabilities.
What will make you successful in your role?
Required skills and qualifications
2+ years of experience as an Analyst
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science, economics, or statistics
Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
Strong experience with Databricks Platform and Microsoft Power BI
Strong SQL, Python and Excel skills, with aptitude for learning other analytics tools
Experience of developing and presenting analysis to shape actionable recommendations and tell a story with data for varied audiences
Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Proven record of delivery and ability to self-start with a ‘can do’ attitude
Methodological thinker and diplomatic in approach to solving problems
Preferred skills and qualifications
Experience within a decentralized or federated analytics function
Background in TMT / ICT sector
