Job description


Applications are invited from suitably qualified and motivated State Registered Biomedical Scientists to join a well-established team within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion section of this busy department, which has full UKAS Accreditation. The department actively encourages further education and CPD activities. Biomedical scientists within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion section work on Coulter DxH 900, ACL Top, Immucor BT. LIMS system is Winpath, we have just completed a procurement cycle and there will be changes in the layout and function of the laboratory, with opportunity to be involved in verification of equipment.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the 24 hour/ seven day service after a period of suitable training.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Band 5 BMS . We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, hard-working individuals able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work. The posts are for 37.5 hours a week.

This post is based at St.Georges' Hospital however the post holders may be required to work at any of the South West London Pathology sites as and when necessary.

Applicants must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the 24 hour/ seven day service after a period of suitable training.

As a Band 5 biomedical scientist, you will rotate through various sections of the haematology laboratory including automated haematology, coagulation, blood transfusion, and special haematology. The laboratory is UKAS accredited.

After a period of suitable training you will take full part in a 24/7 rota including nights, late shifts and weekends.
