We are looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join Community Vision Nursery in Penge. This post will be working 36 hours per week, for 38 weeks of the year (Full time /Term Time). Initially 6 month contract.

Applicants with a full and recognised Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years would be preferred. However, consideration will also be given to applicants who have a valid Early Years level 2 qualification and are willing to work towards a level 3.

Level 3 in Early Years and Childcare qualified: BR5 grade, FTE (£11.57 – £12.27 per hour)
Level 2 in Early Years and Childcare qualified: BR4 grade FTE (£11.37 – £11.57 per hour)
Unqualified but experienced: BR3 grade (£11.06 – £11.37 per hour)
Community Vision Nursery registered in 2006 and can offer 56 places to children aged between 3 months to 5 years Community vision is open from 8am to 6pm on Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year. The nursery has good transport links and parking is available on the side streets The nursery receives funding for free early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children. The nursery supports children who have SEN and/or disabilities and children who speak English as an additional language. The nursery consists of 4 large play rooms and is set over 4 rooms, 2 large outdoor areas for the children to explore outside.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Able to engage with and relate to young children
  2. Good communication skills, both oral and written
  3. Able to work as a team member providing support and help to colleagues.
  4. Confident to engage parents, carers and other professionals
  5. Ability to work closely with parents/carers in confidence

KNOWLEDGE of

  1. Current childcare legislation
  2. The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and how to implement it in practice.
  3. A clear understanding of child protection processes and procedures.
  4. A clear understanding of child development, care, learning and play.
  5. A clear understanding of what equal opportunities and diversity means how inclusion can be promoted within a nursery.

EXPERIENCE of

  1. Working/volunteering in a Day Nursery or pre-school setting
  2. Working/volunteering with children aged 0-5 years

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must hold a recognised, full and relevant level three or above childcare qualification and have significant relevant experience.
  2. Current paediatric First Aid Certificate
