Job description

About the Employer

About the employer I am the employer and mother to my young son. My son’s Disability and Health Conditions are: • Selective Mute • Social anxiety • Body dysmorphia/self conscious • Epilepsy (however this is well managed)

We are looking for a PA to build a trusting relationship which allow him 1-1 support and to encourage and enable him to access social activities and assist in building upon his support network outside of the family home. He demonstrates no behavioural issues but is very isolated and insular, so the introduction of a PA will be vital in developing his social skills and encouragement to try new things. Whilst he is selective in his willingness to communicate with others outside of the home, he is able to engage in activities and put across his likes, needs and wants.

My son has a great sense of humour and enjoys most things associated to his age, he is very inquisitive so likes to take in knowledge and enjoys learning new facts. He enjoys music/singing, going to parks, playing tennis playing mini golf and going to the cinema.

My son will require someone who is patient and understanding who is willing to take time to get to know him and build a trusting relationship with. He has a phobia of bugs, germs and any flying insects so he would predominantly prefers activities based indoors.

Our son has no mobility issues and is very intelligent, so will require someone with good communication skills to keep him engaged. Our son and us are seeking a PA to befriend, and support him when he requires it, to allow him social time with others outside of the family home, offer him new experiences and promote his independence, whilst also giving us a break from our caring role.
