WHAT TO EXPECT
As Technical Zone Leader for either the front, underfloor rear “zone”, we will want you to support the geometric, attribute and system integration for that zone. You will support the JEA engineering service provider (ESP) and cross functional engineering teams to drive functional and attribute targets and act as the voice of the customer.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop vehicle level end-to-end technical delivery plans for key systems, identifying inter-dependencies and maturation versus customer requirements, throughout virtual and physical test phases. Supporting the Technical Problem Resolution Cross-Squad / cross-Zone including arbitration and escalation as required.
Key Responsibilities
- You will Support the Engineering Service Provider (who is responsible for integrating and delivering the engineering) as the JLR (customer) technical arbitrator, for the “zone” whilst ensuring compatibility with the commodity/system strategies, architectural bandwidth, functional targets, manufacturing and service requirements and Quality.
- We will want you to support functional integration within the given “zone”, to drive out complexity and deliver the most efficient technical solutions.
- Drive Zonal Group coordinated technical data progression (Geometric Compatibility/CAD Maturity, DV) with Engineering Service Provider Simultaneous Engineering Teams to meet JLR (customer) requirements.
- Oversee alignment on, and subsequent delivery of, Minimum Viable Product into both virtual and physical verification and validation through life of Programme.
- Support Zonal cross squad obstacle resolution, ensuring timely escalation
- We would want you to ensure prompt escalation of the “Zone” technical blockers/incompatibilities to Vehicle/Chapter/Enterprise leadership via the Obstacle process
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- We would love it if you could bring Automotive technical knowledge and extensive experience of complex interactions, including technical analysis and decision-making.
- In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in matters concerning Underbody Packaging, including Requirements, Standards and Legal requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Experience in leading teams of people to solve complex technical issues using a structured approach e.g 8D and/or Six Sigma
- Project Management experience of delivery against a complex set of Programme technical deliverables.
- Ability to embrace the Agile model and work effectively as a champion of Agile principles in practice.
