Job description

What you will do in your working day

In our planning team you'll have the chance to work alongside a dedicated team of planners, ecologists and landscape architects who interact across the planning system. Dealing with local plan consultations, consultations regarding individual development proposals, providing planning advice to the wider business and working alongside our engineers to develop planning applications for our own capital programme.

During your 5 year apprenticeship, under the guidance of your mentor and manager, you will gain an overview of the type of work undertaken, moving around the team to gain experience of all relevant aspects. This will give you good working experience of the planning and regulatory system and will also include plenty of site visits to see for yourself the type of projects we design and construct, alongside meetings with internal consultees and stakeholders to broaden your understanding of the wider business and the important role the planning team plays in promoting sustainable development and protecting and promoting United Utilities' assets and interests.

If you are ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic with great communication skills, an eye for organisation and a problem solver, together with an interest in places and the environment and how they are shaped, this apprenticeship could be right up your street.
