So…. What is this role exactly?
Due to internal promotions, we have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Project Officer at Coops Foyer – supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25.
The role is based at Coops Foyer in Wigan Town Centre and will move over to our new Wigan Foyer, also based in Wigan Town centre when the innovative development is completed in the next 2 years.
Coops Foyer is accredited with the Foyer Federation meaning we take an asset-based approach, called Advantaged Thinking, in all the work we do; encouraging young people experiencing homelessness to aim high, dream big and fulfil their ambitions.
We want to recruit as Project Officer as passionate about this as us.
What will my working week look like?
Project Officers work on a 3 week rolling rota - Week A: 8am-4pm Week B: 11am-7pm Week C: 12noon-8pm, and are part of a multidisciplinary team on site supporting the young people who can live with us for a maximum of 2 years. The role includes some element of lone working, but only for short periods of time.
Every day is different; you could be delivering 121 support sessions on life skills, reviewing an action plan, supporting a young person to a medical appointment, contributing to a multi-agency meeting or facilitating group activities as part of the learning programme.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, you will be providing key worker support to our young people. Working through support and action plans with them, in order for them to develop the life skills necessary to move on and live independently in the community.
One of the great things about this role is being able to bring your own personality. Our young people come from a wide range of backgrounds and we try to mirror that in our staff team.

This role also offers genuine progression opportunities, with staff previously progressing into roles such as Learning and Support Officer, Accommodation and Support Officer, Tenancy Management Officer; and both the Foyer Manager and Deputy Manager started their careers as Project Officers.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and will require the post holder to carry out ‘Regulated Activity’ as defined under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. Therefore, as part of Your Housing Group’s pre-employment checks, successful applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory Enhanced DBS with barred list(s) check.
