You'll be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor.
Working alongside our laboratory scientist team, you'll be a key player in:
- Carrying out water quality testing, to prescribed microbiology methods
- Taking responsibility for the quality of the work you undertake.
- The role will allow you to analyse, interpret and evaluate relevant scientific information.
- You will gain knowledge of Water Quality testing procedures and standards.
- You will add value to Severn Trent by responding to Water Quality incidents or issues.
- Identifying, and reporting of key results on the Quality of water to drive the correct response to meet Water Quality Regulations and protect public health.
The training you will be getting Within our Laboratory Scientist team you will complete the Level 6 Laboratory Scientist Degree Apprenticeship standard, allowing you to develop the skills & experience required to become an expert, while earning a Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline relevant to the job role.
You'll combine on-the-job learning with formal, nationally recognised development training. A Personal Development Plan will help drive your career progression, set, agreed & regularly reviewed with your line manager.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship By the end of this programme, you will take up a Laboratory Analyst role, where you will be able to put your skills to action.
There may be opportunities in either the Shrewsbury or Nottingham location. A work pattern which includes weekends and times outside office hours is required, as is participation in standby.
