Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: South West England, Dorset, Bournemouth
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Hybrid Working)

Salary: £65,000.00 - £75,000.00 Per annum
My client, a leading water contractor, is seeking to add to strengthen their Commercial team with a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS based at Knapp Mill, Christchurch.
You will report directly to the Managing QS and you will be expected to take responsibility for several key accounts on a large project or the overall financial control of smaller projects.
Job Duties:
- Managing all aspects of quantity surveying for construction projects within the environmental and waste industry
- Preparing and reviewing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents
- Conducting site visits to assess progress and identify any potential issues or deviations from plans
- Collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective solutions
- Monitoring project budgets, tracking expenditure, and providing regular financial reports
- Negotiating contracts, variations, and final accounts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Assessing and managing risks, including contract and financial risks
- Adhering to relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practises
- Supervising and mentoring junior quantity surveyors
- Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, developments, and innovations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Professional accreditation with a recognised institution (e.g., RICS)
Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, methods, and practises
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel)
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Experience in the environmental and waste industry
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practises
Working Conditions:
- Office-based work with regular site visits
- Hybrid Working
- May involve working on construction sites, which may require wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Occasional travel may be required
- Full-Time hours, with flexibility to work additional hours when necessary
