Job description

Are you a junior Estimator and looking for a new challenge to excel your career? Want to work within a manufacturing organisation who will provide training and allow you to develop your skills as an Estimator? This organisation is looking for an Estimator to join a small team, working on a variety of projects with customers from all different industries. You will work closely with the sales department and production team to ensure a smooth process for the customer. Ideally you will have some experience of reading customer drawings whether it will have been within the construction, engineering, or manufacturing industry.

Job Duties:

• Creating and logging parts on the MRP system
• Calculating costings and prices for customers using the MRP system
• Working closely with the sales team to ensure a smooth process from initial conversation to closure of quote and sale
• Working closely with the production team to understand lead times and labour require for customer jobs and projects
• Liaising with existing suppliers to discuss any new prices on materials
• Sourcing for new suppliers alongside the purchasing team and negotiating prices for materials
• Read drawings from customers, understanding dimensions and being able to put costings into the system
• Liaising with customers directly to discuss any changes or queries to their original drawing and updating the sales team on the progress and communication had with the customer
• Face to face meetings with customers and suppliers as and when needed

What we are looking for:

• Ideally some previous experience as an Estimator
• Experience of reading drawings (can be from engineering, manufacturing, or construction industry)
• Understanding of dimensions
• Strong numerical skills
• Ideally previous experience with creating quotations
• Effective communication skills
• Technical and commercial awareness
• A willingness to learn and develop skills
