Job description

Are you passionate about product development, optimisation, and being part of multi-functional project teams?

At our Technical Centre in Loughborough, our technical teams support the ongoing development and improvement of our British Gypsum products. We develop and improve product formulations to meet the needs of our customers, address quality concerns, ensure compliance, drive product sustainability, and reduce manufacturing costs.

As a Project Leader in the team, you will work predominantly on a project basis coordinating the delivery of projects to meet a business need. You will collaborate with teams across our business including manufacturing operations, marketing, sales, procurement, suppliers, and the wider technical function. The work is hinged on product development, testing, data analysis, interpretation, and communication across the business to a range of stakeholders at all levels and where appropriate you will conduct production line trials across our manufacturing network.

The position is a great opportunity for a curious individual with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be someone who has recently completed a Ph.D. or someone with a science-related degree such as chemistry, material science, and similar supported by 3 or more years in a technical role.

British Gypsum is one of 30 Saint-Gobain brand’s and is a market-leading manufacturer of gypsum-based building materials from insulation, wall lining dry boards, and plaster to ceilings and floors. Our products shape modern interiors for the commercial, residential, and off-site sectors of the construction industry.

This is a full-time position based at our East Leake facility, predominantly Monday to Friday with occasional flexibility and travel required.

What we’re looking for:

• A Ph.D. In material science, chemistry, or a similar scientific subject OR a relevant degree 3 or more years of experience in industry.
• Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels.
• A curious individual who enjoys problem-solving and improving what we do, and the way we do it.
• A hands-on individual, happy to get stuck in with 50% of the role being practically based
