Job Role

We are looking for a Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team. 

Supporting in reporting the financial performance of the Coop ensuring the period end management accounts are accurate and produced within the reporting deadlines, assisting with the financial forecast and providing business information as requested by line management and budget holders.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. To compile and process accurate journals to the general ledger
  2. To ensure that accruals and prepayments are relevant, supported and calculated accurately
  3. To ensure that opening and closing stocks are calculated and reported correctly, and that the Accounting by Location, Theoretical Stocks and period end stock take processes are fit for purpose and performed efficiently
  4. To assist other members of the team and the Head of Management Accountants with the period end accounts close
  5. To identify, investigate and resolve budget variances and mis postings and assist budget holders in controlling their costs
  6. To proactively engage with budget holders to provide friendly and professional financial support and advice and encourage financial best practice
  7. To fully understand the ‘story’ behind each location’s management accounts and facilitate meaningful discussion and decision-making during the period end accounts review sessions
  8. To prepare accurate, well-presented and fully supported balance sheet reconciliations each period
  9. To prepare accurate, timely financial data for the weekly consolidated sales and margin report and provide adhoc analysis of trading performance as required
  10. To manage and prioritise workloads to ensure that reporting deadlines are always met
  11. To assist with internal and external audits
  12. To participate in relevant training and development as agreed with line management
  13. To support and provide cover for other members of the team as directed by line management
  14. To demonstrate a desire for continuous improvement, and support line management in the drive to modernise and streamline Finance Department processes
  15. To undertake any other duties as reasonably required by line management

Qualifications and Experience

  1. A good level of education and numeracy
  2. Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel
  3. Part qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification
