Learning Support Assistant (SEN) - Primary School

Job Description: Seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide essential support to SEN children across the primary school. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver personalized interventions, offer 1:1 support, and contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions to SEN children, including those with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized learning plans and adapting classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of SEN students.
  • Support SEN children with their academic, social, and emotional development, fostering independence and self-confidence.
  • Help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where all students, including those with SEN, feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff members to monitor SEN student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of SEN student progress and interventions, and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine desire to support the learning and development of SEN children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with SEN students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting SEN students with additional learning needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, particularly those with SEN.
