The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Readymix division on the HS2 project. You will report into the HS2 Project Delivery Manager, based in our Coleshill, Birmingham office. The role will require you to be out on site 3- 4 days per week including a weekly visit to our office in Bristol. We are looking for an experience QS to join the team, being the commercial face of the project, it is essential that you have strong track record in building fantastic customer relationships and are confidently able to handle disputes and resolve invoicing queries in a professional manner. Your key areas of responsibility include:
- Ensuring that all processes in the workplace are carried out in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner in accordance with the policies of the company and the Integrated Management System.
- Ensuring that all work is recorded including additional items that may require additional payment, liaising with members of the team who will assist with this.
- Submitting valuations and invoices in accordance with the contract and ensure that customers are given every encouragement and ability to pay accounts in accordance with the contract.
- Producing timely cost/value reports that monitor the financial progress of contracts or elements.
Who you are
- You are confident being the Primary interface between Aggregate Industries (AIUK) and the customer and the Subcontractors commercial and accounts payable teams.
- You can manage invoice queries, including outstanding payments, credits, raising of invoices.
- You are confident conducting weekly reviews of deliveries to ensure correct billing.
- You can manage the agreement of sundry charges (Waiting time, part loads, out of hours charges etc).
- You are confident submitting the monthly fixed cost charges.
- You can readily pull together the volumes supplied per customer, and PO (pivot table).
- You will conduct a weekly review (pulled from E1) to generate an internal report with actions
- You will lead weekly face to face meetings with the customers’ accounts payable team and other teams to agree on volumes, rejected and dumped loads
- You will draft and send commercial letters (e.g. early warnings, compensation events, etc as detailed in the supply agreement).
- You will be responsible for the collection of evidence for the construction of commercial claims.
- You will be responsible for managing and drafting formal responses to customer complaints
- You will provide advice to the project team on contractual issues (claims, contract breaches, commercial compliance, liabilities.
- You will be responsible for KPI tracking and reporting.
Essential Requirements
- Strong experience in a similar Quantity Surveying role.
- Strong evidence of building customer relationships.
- Experience of dispute resolution in service delivery and invoicing.
- Strong spreadsheet management skills.
