The Role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment as a Senior Technician. The post will provide operational teaching and support in the Electrical and Electronics, and the Robotics Laboratories. Your focus will be primarily in Electronics, Power Electronics and Robotics, contributing to the learning experience of the students by providing practical guidance on the use of resources and promoting an excellent understanding of engineering activities and techniques.

We aspire to provide a culture of out of the box thinking to problem solving, and team working, we invite people to share their ideas and embed best practice in the work we do. Working with our students on their final year and MSc projects, you will assist with extra curriculum projects such as Primary Engineer and Formula Student. Safety is a top priority, and you will ensure the laboratories and the facilities within them are maintained in good order.

The Person

You will be a hands-on technician, who is looking to engage the next generation of engineers in Electrical, Electronic and Robotic engineering. As a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual, with an interest in electronic product design, you will be ready to contribute to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school’s laboratories and be excited to work with a range of students, academics, and clients.

You will have a demonstrable track record in the field of Electrical and Electronic engineering and workshop practices. We are looking for individuals who are qualified to an appropriate HNC or an equivalent City & Guilds qualification, with hands on experience of working within a workshop.

Further information

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £37,646 per annum.
