Are you a creative and inspiring teacher able to inspire our Economics pupils to achieve success?
Royal Russell is an HMC/IAPS co-educational school with over 1100 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18, situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon. We have over 150 boarding pupils in the Senior School and are proud of our day and boarding facilities that rank amongst the best in the South of England. Our pupils, parents and staff experience a warm and friendly environment with strong pastoral care for every pupil alongside a comprehensive co-curricular and enrichment programme. We aim to build on this alongside improving academic success to continue to be the family school of choice in South London. The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) has recently judged the school as ‘excellent’ in all areas.
The Business and Economics Department offers a range of courses at GCSE, A Level and BTEC. In the Sixth Form, we offer Edexcel Economics and Edexcel Business A level courses and Level 3 BTEC National Business courses with great success. Business is also a popular option subject at GCSE, running in at least three out of the four option blocks each year. Many of our pupils go on to study a Business or Economics related degree course at university.
You will be enthusiastic and energetic in your approach and have a deep-rooted knowledge of Economics at A Level, enabling you to build upon the successes already enjoyed by the department. Our ideal candidate will have a strong university degree in an Economics-related subject, the ability to communicate with pupils as well as being an inspirational and forward-thinking practitioner. The ability to teach Business at GCSE, A-level or Level 3 BTEC National is desirable, but not essential. The Business and Economics department consists of a strong team of 7 teachers who teach across disciplines and qualifications. A willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular programme and support the pastoral life of our school is essential.
The Royal Russell pay scale which is above SNS includes a generous allowance for suitably qualified and experienced staff. Allowances are available for specific pastoral and academic responsibilities.
We offer excellent benefits which include free lunch, free car parking, use of on-site tennis courts, gym and swimming pool. The School offers a defined contribution pension, with free life cover, on a promoted salary scale. Staff are also entitled to 50% discount on School fees (pro-rata for part time/term time staff).
