Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Archive Support Officer joining our Archive team. As a member of the Historic England Archive team (HEA), you will ensure that the content and assets are shared in accessible, inspiring and engaging ways with a diverse range of audiences.

We’re looking for a self-motivated person with excellent team-working skills to help assist the creation of Education packs. You will work with the Archive Education Manager to deliver up to 200 education packs this year. Your duties will include the accurate retrieval/filing of aerial photographs, printing and administrative tasks including postage. 

This role is based within our Archive Support Team and involves working in our environmentally controlled archive store. The work will include manual handling and the use of ladders.

What you will be doing

You will be Responsible for the retrieval and return of archive material for Education packs, in accordance to archive guidelines and in response to the needs of the Archive Education Manager, external customers and other staff. 

You will Collate and prepare Education packs for sending out to schools; printing, packing and prepare for postage. Associated administrative tasks including updating spreadsheets.

Working with colleagues to prioritise day to day workload and to ensure that requests are dealt with in accordance to delivery deadlines and other service level agreements.

You will be carrying out a range of copying tasks as required

You will also be ensuring that archive guidelines are followed when handling a wide range of archive material including glass, plastic and paper.

Use Airphotonet, DeskGIS and Adlib databases to accurately input the details of the archive being moved, look up archive locations and other tasks.

You will be downloading, moving and resizing digital images from the digital image server as required.

You will be Liaise as necessary with other Historic England Archive teams to resolve problems, update teams on the progress of requests and to ensure that requests and orders are completed satisfactorily.

You will Perform any other general tasks to support the delivery of services.

Developing knowledge and understanding of all the areas of work undertaken by the Historic England Archive and the Public Engagement group to offer an integrated service to internal and external customers.

Please note that this role is office-based and involves considerable time working in the environmentally controlled archive store in tasks involving manual handling and ladders.
