Job description
An exciting opportunity has come up to join the Pharmacy Team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust . We are an innovative department investing in the use of technology to support our medicines management agenda. You will work closely with all the team members for each pharmacy service delivery and with the Clinical Systems IT team in ensuring all pharmacy clinical systems operate and are maintained.
Applicants will need to have knowledge and skills and experience to apply to the dispensing and supply of medicines using automation at ward level and in the dispensary. There is an opportunity to undertake quality improvement projects,
There will be a requirement to work with external suppliers of systems to trouble shoot any problems to resolution , train staff on the use of the systems, ensure all hardware and software are fit for purpose and maintain asset registers for equipment.
In conjunction with the Senor Pharmacy Managers and the Divisional Clinical IT team, deliver a high quality informatics services for the Pharmacy. There is a requirement to work with the ward nursing staff to support them in their training , including at super user levels of their automated cabinets. Maintain stringent access rights for clinical systems.
You will need to ensure all operating systems function. New staff joining the Pharmacy will require an in depth training plan as part of their induction for the use of the clinical systems.
You will perform duties required in your role as a pharmacy technician including accuracy checking of prescriptions, dispensing and supporting the medicines management team to fully utilise available resources within the Pharmacy Computer System.
The Pharmacy has progressed with its workforce skill mix introducing new roles and investing in the training and development of staff.

We are supporting our ward based teams to work at the patient bedside using technology that is efficient, effective and responds to the needs of the patient and the Hospital.
We support our staff to familiarise themselves with technology and support them in their daily work.
1. Manage all departmental computer hardware and software at super user level.
2. Ensure all the pharmacy clinical systems are operational, function and are fit for purpose.
3. Support all Managers in data collection for Key Performance Targets and reports.
4. Train staff and set up user accounts, recording essential data.
5. Ensure all maintenance and upgrades take place working with suppliers for pharmacy clinical systems
6. Lead on the internal pharmacy innovation and digital medicines group reporting to the Pharmacy Quality Team.
7. Identify any risks with Pharmacy Clinical systems and work with the Pharmacy Governance team to mitigate the risks.
