Facilities Technician Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT Full-time, Permanent We are seeking a dedicated and versatile individual to be a vital part of our Facilities team. As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our building, equipment, and services. We are looking for an individual with a proactive ’can do’ attitude, extensive experience in general building repair and maintenance, and a strong understanding of current health and safety legislation. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, customer-focused, and prepared to tackle new and evolving challenges with utmost professionalism.

Duties include:

Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal Facilities Maintenance Technician:
  • Prior experience in building maintenance and relevant trade qualifications demonstrate expertise in the field.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and formal training ensure compliance and a safe working environment.
  • Proficiency in repairing laboratory and other equipment, including electrical and mechanical repairs, is essential.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and respond flexibly to department needs.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, along with demonstrable IT skills, enable effective collaboration.
  • Experience working well in a team and providing good customer service is important.
  • Strong skills in managing time, prioritizing tasks, and solving problems.
  • Ability to remain calm and polite in emergency situations.
  • Eagerness to acquire specialist knowledge for competent response to building services issues.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in university research environment and ability to perform heavy lifting (training provided).
