We have a unique opportunity for the right- minded person to join our growing Advanced Development Engineering team and play an important role in the exploration of new concepts for our innovative radiotherapy solutions, based on linear accelerators.

Our Advanced Development Engineering team is seeking a multi-disciplinary experienced scientist, with a background in physics or engineering and with applied software skills, who shares the same passion for bringing hope to people living with cancer and for giving everyone access to the best cancer care.
What you’ll do at Elekta
As a Principal Advanced Development Engineer, you will focus on exploring and de-risking new technologies to support our future linear accelerator developments.
This is an exciting opportunity to be able to carry out the following responsibilities:
Exploring future technologies regarding technical feasibility, robustness, cost, and appropriateness of use for radiotherapy treatment.
Application of best practices in the exploration phase, from idea evaluation to prototyping and proof of concept of proposed technology
Development of prototypes integrating hardware and software
Enabling a smooth transition of technology from the Advanced Development Engineering prototype phase to the engineering development and implementation phase within a program, including technical guidance to the engineering teams
Leveraging skills of the wider engineering organisation and third parties to achieve the goal
Planning the work for timely deliveries and keep progress, status and risks transparent to project team and stakeholders
Actively keeping oneself updated on areas concerning engineering and the radiotherapy domain, such as engineering practices, standards, tools, methodology, etc.
Actively improving one’s soft skills regarding team collaboration, communication, and building relations within your professional network

Analysis of technical requirements
Definition of prototype specification
Design of experiments for exploration
Technical exploration planning, management and execution
Authoring of technical reports
What you bring
A BSc and/or PhD and/or master’s degree in physics, mathematics, electronic engineering, computer science or similar
Extensive experience of developing software and experimental prototypes for physics and/or engineering applications, including aspects of control systems
Languages: C/C++, plus at least one of the following: Matlab, Simulink, Python
A good understanding of systems engineering principles and practices
Experience of medical device development is an advantage
Ability to effectively communicate and liaise with other functions, such as hardware engineering (mechanical and electronics), software, physics, product management, as well as with external partners, such as research institutions and other 3rd party technology partners
Ability to guide the technical work of internal and external engineering physics teams
The desire and flexibility to acquire different skills to complete the task
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
A team player with good communication skills, but with the ability to complete work independently and coordinate work involving different parties
Excellent problem-solving capabilities
