Starting Salary: £53,346 with the opportunity to earn £57,569
Bonus: Up to 15% base salary per annum based on achievement of Company targets and personal performance.
Working Pattern: Days (37 hours per week, typical hours are 07:30 – 15:40 or 08:10 – 16:20)
Location: Sellafield, West Cumbria
The Technical Manager supports development of the technical requirements for the Site Management Portfolio, aligned to Strategic Enterprise, Site, Directorate and Portfolio objectives and aspirations. We deliver technical development, applicable to delivery of the operations and programmes in Site Management.
You would develop and lead a technical team in support of the Technical Lead advising both operations and programmes. Scopes and implements practical technology solutions which reduce the technology risks across the directorate or company.
Manage identification and implementation of opportunities for reducing lifetime plan costs relevant to operating and decommissioning a range of complex and hazardous facilities.
Scope and manage a portfolio of technical development work to underpin the ongoing and future operations of Site Management.
To be successful you should be able to:
• Develop and maintain relationships and communication with key stakeholders across and outside the organisation to ensure the effective delivery of technical activities.
• Lead and develop a team which provides high quality technical underpinning to operational decision making, in order to ensure Site Management-wide business deliverables are met.
• Lead and develop a team that identifies scope and delivers plant and process improvements to support operational requirements.
• Lead and develop a team that scopes and delivers plant and process improvements to meet long term (15 – 20 year) company goals, in line with operational and programmatic requirements ensuring appropriate programmes of work are in place.
• Set and monitor team objectives and standards which reflect good practice, ensuring resource and information allocations are sufficient to complete specified tasks.
• Supports the effective technical governance arrangements that are established to enable timely and informed decisions
• Supports the Technical Lead for Site Management to ensure that Site Management plans are aligned with the Site Strategy.
• Ensures that the technical development requirements associated with the strategies are within Accolade and aligned to the expectations of the business, including TEDP and TBURD where required.
• Supports the Site Management Technical Lead to act as the focal point for guidance and advice on Site Management Technical issues
• Approve and review the data and assessments relating to Site Management for the Site Management Technical Lead
• Maintain knowledge of Site Management including:
Relevant aspects of the NDA Specification
Scope, assumptions, constraints, key issues, key decisions
Upstream/downstream interdependencies from other areas of the Site
Risks and opportunities
Essential Skills:
• STEM Degree, and Membership of a professional body, or equivalent level of experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
• Chartership in a professional body, or equivalent level of experience
• Experience of management in a technical/strategic discipline
• Experience of working with radioactive materials.
• Knowledge of legislative, regulatory and other requirements relevant to the area of responsibility
• Knowledge of technical issues and strategic challenges relevant to the area of responsibility
• Understanding of the role and its relationship with other departments and external bodies
• Experience of decisions and strategic management
