Job description
This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.
Background to the Post
During recent years the College has continued to grow and diversify in order to meet the demands placed upon it by government initiatives, community developments and financial considerations.
In order to keep pace with changes and to address the needs of students in the 21st Century, the College has embarked upon a number of initiatives and from 2007; the College operates at six main centres throughout Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
The post of College driver/Vehicle Inspector is an important one as it helps in ensuring students are transported safely into and out of College on a daily basis, allows ad hoc runs to take place throughout the day between centres and ensures that our vehicle fleet is checked and maintained to current regulations.
Essential Attainments
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance is essential.
- Clean UK driving licence, free of major endorsements, is essential.
- In order to comply with DVLA regulations regarding driving a minibus it is essential that applicants fulfil the following criteria:
- Have an entitlement to drive cars prior to 1 January 1997 (shown as group A (B for automatics) on an old style licence or as category B and D1 nor for hire or reward on a new style licence)
- Be over 21 years of age.
- Be fit and active and able to carry out some manual lifting.
Desirable Attainments
- To be aware of Health and Safety procedures and ensure they are observed at all times when carrying out duties.
- To show evidence of reliability and flexibility of working.
- Ability to comply with the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedures and be able to demonstrate an understanding of Equal Opportunities.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- The post requires a high level of flexible working as times of working may vary from week to week.
