Job description

What you will do in your working day

• Learn basic engineering knowledge and skills
• Understand and appreciate basic Health and Safety requirements
• Work alongside skilled Maintenance Engineers to provide you with the knowledge needed to become fully trained
• General maintenance of the site, including mechanical machinery and electrical systems
• You will also be expected to respond quickly to changing demands throughout your working day
• Working to quality standards required for the components
• Fault finding and repairing mechanical and electrical devices

The training you will be getting

You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3.

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
