PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT – Blood Transfusion
Advertisement for Transfusion Team Support Officer - Band 3 . The post is a permanent contract of 30.5 hours per week.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Blood Transfusion department of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board for a Transfusion Team Support Officer to join our team. This is a new role which will support the Transfusion Practitioner team to provide education to the clinical areas and to monitor traceability of blood components as required under the Blood Safety & Quality Regulations.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who has a flexible approach to work. The post will be based primarily in the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran but will require rotation to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr in Ystrad Mynach, and Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
Hours will be worked over 5 days Monday to Friday.
The post holder will provide support to the Transfusion team in the Haemonetics Blood-Track system and transfusion laboratory support activities across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB).
You will work as a member of the Hospital Transfusion Team (HTT) which has overall day to day responsibility for transfusion management and safety within ABUHB.
You will be responsible for training and supporting users of the system and for the traceability of blood products used within the Health Board. The post holder will need to communicate and collaborate with the Transfusion Laboratory and ABUHB/non ABUHB clinical staff with regard to safe blood transfusion practice.
