My client is a reputable and dynamic construction consultancy based in London. With a strong track record of delivering successful projects across various sectors, they offer a range of professional services to clients in the construction industry. The company are currently seeking an Associate Director of Building Surveying to join our team and contribute to our continued growth and success.
Position Overview:
As the Associate Director of Building Surveying, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing our Building Surveying department. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of building surveyors, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the successful delivery of building surveying projects. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, collaborating closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver high–quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide strong leadership to the Building Surveying team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Manage and mentor a team of building surveyors, promoting their professional development and growth.
- Ensure effective allocation of resources, balancing workloads, and monitoring project progress.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs.
Project Management:
- Take ownership of building surveying projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Prepare project proposals, including scope of work, budget, and timelines.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to establish project requirements and objectives.
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, and assessments, identifying any defects or issues and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
- Prepare accurate reports, specifications, and drawings.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide expert advice and guidance on building surveying matters, including building regulations, construction defects, maintenance, and refurbishment.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, standards, and regulations, ensuring compliance in all projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and due diligence assessments on potential projects.
- Advise clients on property acquisitions, lease renewals, dilapidations, and other building–related matters.
Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions.
- Identify opportunities for business development and contribute to the growth of the Building Surveying department.
- Attend client meetings, presentations, and industry events to promote the company's services and establish new connections.
Qualifications and requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying or a related field. A master's degree is advantageous.
- MRICS is essential.
- Extensive experience in building surveying, including proven experience managing complex projects.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of building regulations, construction methods, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Exceptional project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships effectively.
