Vet Surgeon
Gatehouse Veterinary Group, Allerton
Up to £70,000 pro-rata depending on experience, relocation allowance of up to £5000, welcome bonus of up to £5000 (pro rata for part-time), plus sponsorship for international candidates


What’s on offer?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Vet Surgeon to join our friendly team at Gatehouse Vets Allerton. Gatehouse Vets are a wonderful three-site group with our main sites being Allerton and Bingley.

We are looking for a Vet surgeon who has a passion for coaching and developing those less experienced, someone who enjoys mentoring others whilst watching them grow and flourish into a successful career. The successful applicant would also be working alongside students to assist in the teaching of clinical skills, supervising and evaluating their progress throughout the graduate course whilst also being involved in the day-to-day veterinary rota within the practice. This role will predominantly be a clinical role with a split of 70% practising vet and 30% clinical coach. If you have your Vet GDP, we would love to hear from you or if you are interested in pursuing this certificate, we would be happy to support.
We can you a well-balanced caseload split between medicine and surgery. We can tailor the caseload towards your own specific clinical interests, and we’re happy to offer financial assistance towards those that are looking to pursue a certificate.


Rota patterns that work for you

We know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our typical full-time rota being 40 hours per week over four days with a share of the weekend rota. This is currently just 1 in 4 Saturdays with time back in lieu. No out-of-hours or on-call required!


About Us

We are a busy, well-established, veterinary practice located in the West of Yorkshire we are a short drive away from the Yorkshire Dales and Bronte Country. We are closely located to good travel networks and links and also pride ourselves on our excellent teamwork and inpatient care. We have 3 sites across West Yorkshire all well equipped with Ultrasound, endoscope, x-ray equipment, dental suites. We are a gold standard ISFM certified cat-friendly practice with a silver certificate for rabbits and have been rated outstanding in several practice standards scheme awards. Our caseload is very varied and our team has lots of different interests. With some team members undergoing further training by certificates and some having those that have achieved certification status, Gatehouse offers a fantastic level of support on a wider group level and allows us to grow and develop a higher quality first opinion pet care, whilst providing internal career progression opportunities.

About the Team and Culture

Currently, we have 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 11 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, 1 Veterinary Care Assistant, and 14 Receptionists. We hold regular team-building events including our annual treasure hunt, weekends away, and opportunities to attend various congresses. We have a Veterinary Surgeon with a certificate in feline medicine and another with a fear Free certificate. We fully encourage development and can offer certificate support. Our experienced nursing team also boast certificates in Emergency and Critical Care, Advanced Feline Nursing, Dentals and Exotics.
