Job description
Looking for an experienced professional Barn Manager for 30 horses on a private yard. The successful candidate will have use of a two bedroom cottage. Sorry no children under 12 years old.
Set in the Hartshead/Liversedge countryside in West Yorkshire the farms are a little piece of paradise with large outdoor arenas.
You will be responsible for two private yards. Yard one has 8 stables and 8 acres. Yard two has 12 stables and 10 acres. There are field shelters and some of the horses live out. Because of the short distance between the two yards you will be required to drive.
The horses are a combination of shetlands, mares with foals at foot and ponies. There’s a large warm blood who is a lovely dressage horse. In spring, summer, autumn months, when most of the horses are out, there will be riding and showing opportunities.
Winter months are hard work. You will have adhock help several days a week. You are responsible for feeding, water and mucking out. In addition you are required to organise the worming programme, farrier and vet visits.
There are a few dogs which live in kennels that you will also be responsible for.
Hours of work are six days a week 8-3pm then 9pm- 10pm for night feeds.
Pay includes accommodation and the hourly rate is £11.50 an hour. You are responsible for all household bills including council tax.
