Playground Games
Location
Leamington Spa, Warwickshire | United Kingdom
Job description
You will use your skills and experience in game audio to help shape the sound of Fable. As a key member of the audio team, you’ll be given ownership of a significant portion of the game’s audio. Working alongside the Lead Audio Designer and other audio team members, you’ll design systems, source, record, and create sound effects, and implement audio in our in-house engine, ForzaTech. We have dedicated teams working on music and dialogue, so you get to focus on creating great sounds. You’ll also be an embedded member of a workstream where you’ll collaborate with other developers from multiple disciplines, acting as a strong advocate for audio, and being a creative voice in discussions and reviews. You’ll have the opportunity to put your stamp on a key part of a unique and memorable gaming experience.
As a team player, you’ll be keen to share your knowledge and ideas and grow your own expertise, helping develop those around you, mentoring more junior staff members while building your own leadership skills. The successful applicant will learn and adapt their workflows to our bespoke inhouse tools – and of course help shape how these tools empower us to keep making better audio.
You'll be passionate about sound design too, always looking for ways to improve the audio in our games. You’ll have the use of incredible facilities here at Playground, with a plethora of kit, as well as opportunities for field/location recording, and beautiful multi-channel audio rooms for asset creation and mixing.
Experience of working on published titles for current-gen consoles/PC, with at least one shipped in an audio design position.
Knowledge of Wwise (or equivalent) features including debugging and optimisation.
A detailed knowledge of DAWs (we use Reaper/ProTools) and various plugins.
The ability to adapt to new technology and bespoke game engine tools.
Experience of open world games is desirable but not essential.
Some knowledge of visual scripts is desired.
Location and studio based SFX recording experience.
A passion for games.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join an established, experienced, and collaborative team, within one of the world’s most exciting games studios. It provides many challenges for a sound designer looking to further their career and create world class games. This is an on-site (Hybrid) position.
Playground Games is an equal opportunities studio and encourages candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
