What you will do in your working day

During your apprenticeship you will be placed in one of the areas of the Warehouse and work your way through the other areas as you progress.

On completion of your apprenticeship, you will have a solid knowledge of:

• Goods In – receiving the deliveries, checking for damaged or missing items, restocking the warehouse and dealing with returned stock.
• Stock Rotation – moving stock around the warehouse to the correct place.
• Picking and Goods Out – carefully picking the correct products for our customers and loading goods for dispatch.
• Decant – Working in our decant area to transfer products into new containers.
• Be able to maintain stock records and documentation.
• Be able to maintain general housekeeping duties, including cleanliness and tidiness, in compliance with Health & Safety guidelines.
• Engage with fellow colleagues and external customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
• Have excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Be trained in Forklift Truck driving, with certified license.

The training you will be getting

You will be working towards a Level 2 qualification in Supply Chain Warehouse Operations.

Your attendance will be in College one day a month over the full period of the apprenticeship.

The final year will involve completion of a portfolio and preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA). This measures the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the standard and is carried out by ESFA approved organisations independent from the college.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

There is a strong possibility that you will gain a permanent position following successful employment as well as achievement of the full apprenticeship qualification. There may also be further apprenticeship/other training available following successful employment and achievement of the apprenticeship qualifications.
