Job description

The individual will manage engineering resource and use appropriate engineering processes and controls to support the successful delivery of projects within Network Rail High Speed (NRHS), to programme schedule, budget, safety, environmental and quality requirements and they will monitor compliance to requirements of legislation, including construction, design, and management (CDM) regulations throughout the lifecycle of a project. The individual shall have detailed knowledge of engineering assurance processes (preferable within the railway industry) and of relevant legislation e.g. CDM.Detailed accountabilities include:Manage the allocation of adequate engineering resource to support the successful delivery of projects within NRHS to the programme schedule and budget requirements.Manage the delivery of key engineering project inputs / outputs, including the development of technical specifications, design assurance and acceptance, and submission of a H&S file.Develop and maintain appropriate engineering assurance processes, to support the successful delivery of projects within NRHS to programme schedule, budget, safety, environmental and quality requirements.Monitor compliance to requirements of legislation, including construction, design and management (CDM) regulations throughout the lifecycle of a project and assist in the development of project management plans and engineering management plans for specific projects were appropriate.Apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects and confirm whether all design and construction contracts include reference to appropriate NRHS standards applicable to the project.Establish and maintain the engineering competence management process and apply this across both internal and contractor’s design and construction personnel, such that suitably qualified and experienced individuals are employed to control engineering aspects of all projects within each functional discipline.Undertake reviews of design and construction activities and arrange audits of contractors to monitor whether safety and quality of design, construction testing and commissioning and management systems meet required standards
