The Employer is: ON TRACK TECHNICIANS LTD.
A Railway Site Operative participates in the maintenance, inspection, and renewal works of the railway track on the Northern Ireland Rail infrastructure. This can include duties such as Ballast Management, look out duties, to identifying defects on the railway. .
Responsibilities
- Along with following the NIR Rulebook, when carrying out duties, we have certain business needs that require additional duties.
- Signing in and out with OTT Day-time Control when acting as PICOP/ES and TSC.
- Ensuring time sheets get signed off by clients and roll call when requested by management.
- Completing shift reports when your role requires.
- Accepting shifts when allocated on resource software.
- Uploading of all safety critical documentation at the end of each shift.
- Signing in and out of shifts when arriving and leaving site.
- Completing online forms when requested by management.
- Attend Site Managers Briefs.
- Review payslips before close of business every Monday.
- Maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the Northern Ireland Railway infrastructure.
- Use of Small Plant & Equipment - Abrasive Wheels/Robel Kangos/Rail Specific Hand Tools.
- Lubricating Points.
- Tightening Bolts on rail joints/switches & crossing units.
- De-vegetation.
- Fencing - renewal or repair.
- Civil Engineering Works/Projects - Concreting/Tarring/White Lining/Installation of cable ducts.
- Assisting Topographical or Environmental Surveys.
- Emergency response.
- Use of Small Plant & Equipment - Abrasive Wheels/Robel Kangos/Rail Specific Hand Tools (Pullers/Setters/Hammers/Bars/Spanners/Scrapers).
- Changing sleepers.
- Changing rails - Disc Cutting/Use of Impact Wrench for Bolts.
- Shovelling Ballast Stone.
- Changing insulators and clips (Pads & fastenings for connecting sleepers/rail).
- Removing rail defects (assisting welders, cut, repair and stress rail).
- Ballast management (drainage - Wet beds - jack and packing).
- Re-Railing and assisting with the installation of track circuit bonding at Insulated Rail Joints.
- Level Crossing Renewal Works.
- Erection of line side fencing - Stockproof & Security.
- Environmental Works - Tree Cutting/Weed Spraying/De-vegetation.
- Civil Engineering Works/Projects - Concreting/Tarring/White Lining/Installation of cable ducts (Track side).
- Assisting Topographical or Environment Surveys.
- Retaining Walls - various specifications - King Post (Concrete and Steel).

Essential Skills
