A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE MAINTENANCE MANAGER AT THE IMPERIAL HOTEL BLACKPOOL
What you'll be doing...
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you can expect your working day to include the following:
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance plans for all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Schedule and oversee regular inspections, preventive maintenance tasks, and repairs to ensure optimal functioning of all systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural components.
- Lead the maintenance team, and external contractors, to foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and teamwork.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance in carrying out maintenance activities.
- Develop annual maintenance budgets in collaboration with the senior management team, ensuring alignment with the hotel's financial objectives and operational needs.
- Monitor expenditures, control costs, and seek cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Source and procure necessary materials, tools, and equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Enforce adherence to safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and visitors.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential hazards, risks, or compliance issues, and take appropriate corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with the hotel senior management team to regularly review emergency response protocols, contingency plans, and procedures to address unforeseen events.
- Address guest maintenance requests promptly and professionally, striving to exceed expectations and enhance overall guest satisfaction.

To succeed in the role of Maintenance Manager, you will need the following qualities and skills:
- Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in building systems, equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards.
- Certification in relevant areas such as HVAC, electrical, or plumbing is desirable.
- Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
