Job description
Job Title: Fire Engineering Consultant
We're looking for a capable, qualified fire engineer to join our client in the North West of England (Ideally Manchester) to be part of the senior leadership team.
We would be able to assist you with a relocation allowance and can help with visa sponsorship for you and your family, if required.
Experience:
Required
- 5+ years' experience working for a consultancy.
- Design fire strategies and fire engineering solutions for multiple residential, educational, commercial, cultural and university buildings to satisfy client's vision for the buildings and navigating tight submission deadlines.
- Prepare technical reports for submission to the Building Control and Fire Service authorities.
- Review technical information to determine compliance with Building Regulations guidance and fire strategy requirements.
- Prepare technical mark-up drawings of potential solutions to inform the design team.
- Conduct CFD modelling of smoke control systems.
- Attend meetings with clients, design teams and Fire and Rescue Services.
- Manage technical, commercial, and professional development of graduate engineers, providing support in achieving their career goals
Desired
- Experience with British Standards (Australian, New Zealand, NFPA are transferable)
- Problem Solving
- Working on Fire Strategies from first principles
- Working towards Chartered Status or working towards a relevant professional registration/qualification
Responsibilities:
- Lead fire engineering projects, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Developing Fire strategy reports across the project life cycle
- Provide fire engineering support to a wide variety of construction projects
- Conduct fire safety assessments and risk analyses.
- Provide technical guidance.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
A BSc and or an MSc in Fire Engineering or Mechanical/Chemical/Building Physics/relevant discipline to the role
