ELSA ( Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)/ Teaching Assistant – Scale 4

Required for ASAP 2024

Hours: 25hrs per week, term time only

The Governing Body of Cheadle Catholic Junior School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join the staff team. The main role of the post as ELSA to support children in improving their emotional literacy, resilience and coping strategies, building their self-esteem so that they can be happy and successful and able to go on to secondary school with every chance of succeeding in life.  You will work closely with our SENCO, Wellbeing Team and class teachers.

Skills and qualifications:

· An ELSA qualification (or qualification in a related subject area) is essential

Knowledge and Experience:

· Experience of supporting children with special educational needs is essential

· Experience working with young people with emotional literacy needs is essential

· Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures

· Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.

· Knowledge of/experience in working with young people with trauma, attachment or ACEs is desirable

· Can establish close working relationships with staff, parents and other agencies, enabling positive solutions to be found

· Is discreet and respects confidentiality
