Job description

Safran Helicopter Engines are the world's leading manufacturer of rotorcraft turbines and the only one dedicated exclusively to this market. Our UK facility is the European Maintenance Centre Hub for the SHE Group, performing level 1 to level 3 maintenance and repairs on complex helicopter engine components. Our experienced teams partner with our broad, global customer base, providing both technical expertise and broader support in both the fixed wing and rotary wing markets.

The Engineering Manager will provide strategic leadership and technical engineering expertise throughout New Manufacturing and Repair Production whilst holding the Engineering Authority and design delegation for the Eurofighter Air Turbine Motor (ATSM). To prepare and evaluate decisions considering the achievement for both long-term profitability and sustainable competitive advantage.

Key Objectives:
Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering and test support team, managing, motivating, and developing all staff ensuring full support to business goals.
Establish an environment to maintain a team of suitably qualified and experienced (SQEP) engineers who are resilient, flexible, and engaged.
Oversee the development and qualification of industrial methods for new products, and/or changes to existing products, including their production and support systems in response to customer and other stakeholders' needs, in conformity with programme and regulatory requirements.
Deliver a team communication plan that provides monthly reports on KPIs for engineering processes.
Act as the interface between customers and/or design organisations for the early identification and rectification of product issues.
Continuously identify and implement opportunities that improve quality, reduce costs, or improve delivery of products/services.
Assist the Engineering Director with the creation, iteration, and implementation of a rolling three-year business plan to develop the team to provide optimum support to the business.

Key Responsibilities:
Work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Demonstrate and lead the company values and behaviours.
Conduct performance reviews for all team members, ensuring that business goals are appropriately cascaded, progressed, reported, and monitored.
Process new product introduction (NPI) activity as required.
Create/maintain the team monthly KPIs in accordance with the communication plan.
Manage and control the configuration and integrity of the technical documentation and work instructions.
Support the MRB process, ensuring that issues are promptly resolved enabling the restoration of production activity.
Lead Level 1 team meetings (with the Engineering TL) to identify, resolve, transfer, or escalate issues to restore the team's output as quickly as possible.
Create and adhere to the annual budget for expenses.
Participate in the preparation of the budget and sales forecast for the New Production and MRO business units.
