Head of Finance Systems vacancy within Higher Education sector
Candidates must possess Agresso Unit 4 experience
Client Details The Head of Finance Systems will be the Finance lead in the development and delivery of improvements. You will have responsibility for ensuring that the full capabilities of our financial systems are leveraged to maximum benefit.
This involves managing and participating in systems development projects and overseeing the resolution of issues with current functionality, working in conjunction with colleagues across Finance, and in partnerships with IT. You will be responsible for the coordination and maintenance of Finance policies and standard operating procedures. You will also be the business and data owner for our Finance systems, their interface with the Student Registry System, the control matrix and the fee matrix. You will also assist colleagues in Finance in solving system and process queries and produce reports for the Finance and University leadership teams.
Description Responsible for Finance Process Improvement
- Responsible for managing the Finance Systems roadmap, a list of all financial system development and process changes ensuring it is aligned to Finance and University strategies.
- Presenting regular updates on progress against the roadmap and the production of business cases to the relevant committees for systems changes.
- Document and maintain Finance's standard operating procedures ensuring that the full capabilities of the financial systems are leveraged to maximum benefit
- Working with Finance staff and colleagues in IT to define their requirements ensuring they are documented for process enhancements
- In consultation with Finance and staff and the broader higher education sector identify areas for process improvement and document the requirements for change. In liaison with IT work to identify solutions to meet these evolving requirements.
- Ensuring that statutory accounting, tax, legislative and control issues are considered and
- incorporated for all process and system changes.
Provide systems support to the Finance Department
- Providing first line support for process and configuration errors for Finance colleagues and systems users across the organisation.
- Providing high level training and guidance on Finance standard operating procedures
- Coordination of Finance colleagues for systems testing
- Preparing project documentation including project request document and business cases
- Monitoring and track projects and system changes to ensure successful delivery to the agreed Finance system roadmap.
- Management and oversight of the University's Control Matrix ensuring that all new codes and approvers are included on the system and removing/archiving those that are no longer relevant
- Management and oversight of the University's fee matrix, ensuring the most up to date version is held in the system annually.
Maintaining Documentation and Policies
- Create and manage a library of all policies and standard operating procedure ensuring they are reviewed regularly.
- Develop and deliver training materials to support the standard operating materials for all new Finance colleagues, ensuring that new changes are communicated to the full team.
- In liaison with Finance colleagues improve and maintain data quality through regular data validation exercise and associated cleanses.
- Implement and maintain a communications strategy for Finance colleagues, staff and students on University Finance policies and standard operating procedures.
Profile Experience of Finance systems and demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
Experience working with university Finance systems and processes, particularly Unit4 Business World (Agresso)
Demonstrated experience in documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures and training materials.
Proven experience in successfully managing financial systems developments and process changes in a complex organisation.
Experience in developing and maintaining the financial modules of an enterprise system within a complex organisation.
Experience in working on projects within a formal methodology and project documentation production.
Experience producing, maintaining and communicating Finance policies in a complex organisation.
