REPORTING TO: Assistant Head & Bursar
CONTRACT: 2 days per week , 8:00 am to 16:30 pm (Term Time)
REMUNERATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience
PENSION: Auto-enrolment into the pension scheme (option to opt out if preferred)
START DATE : September 2024
Context
This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of Manchester’s leading independent prep schools. The successful applicant will have an outstanding subject knowledge and a proven record of, or ambition for, teaching children how to master IT and preparing them for life at many leading senior schools. With a passion for IT, he/she will be inspirational in both their teaching and their manner outside of the classroom.
The role will include delivering some IT support for colleagues in order to support the Bursar.
Job specification:
· Designing and delivering a tailored IT curriculum across the whole school;
· Designing and delivering extra-curricular clubs as directed by the leadership team;
· Monitoring and reporting on IT progression across the whole school;
· Working with the SENDCo to ensure appropriate subject specific targets are set and work is matched well to students’ needs;
· To teach all classes throughout the school, KG1 to Form 6 (i.e. Nursery to Year 6);
· Have a vision for the direction and development of IT;
· Identifying staff training needs, planning and delivering internal staff training sessions, and organising external training where required;
· Provide ‘drop in’ support for staff;
· Monitoring of staff implementation and usage to ensure best use of resources;
· Ensure that the senior leadership team is kept well informed of all relevant matters;
· Establish and act upon staff resource needs;
· Ensure compliance with current safeguarding requirements;
· Working towards responsibility for the development, implementation and review of Branwood’s IT provision;
· To contribute to the overall aims and ethos of the school;
· To work within school policies and procedures;
· To carry out playground and lunch time duties;
· Deliver ‘out of school’ learning activities if required for example, school visits;
· To attend staff training and participate in a cycle of professional review;
· To attend relevant meetings and events, including parents’ evenings, open days, and other occasions, as required;
· To attend relevant meetings and participate in training and development opportunities as appropriate;
· Use expertise to advise and support others as appropriate.
The successful candidate is likely to have the following qualifications, qualities, and experience:
· A minimum of a good graduate level qualification;
· A passion for teaching IT and the ability to communicate this enthusiasm to pupils;
· Some experience of working with children in a school environment;
· Set high expectations to motivate, inspire and challenge pupils;
· Evidence of commitment to professional development;
· Motivation to work with children and a high regard for their happiness, safety and wellbeing;
· The ability to work as part of a team and support the school;
· Excellent planning, administration, and time management skills;
· The vision to enrich pupil learning by organising opportunities outside of the classroom;
