Job description


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and forward thinking individual to join our Resuscitation team at Dorset County Hospital on a part time job share basis.

As part of the team, you will play a key role in the execution of Resuscitation training and education within the Trust and work collaboratively with organisations across the Dorset Integrated care system.

The Resuscitation team are currently transitioning in the wider education, learning and development team which is an exciting time allowing us to maximise opportunities to work more collaboratively.

We are looking for a positive leadership role model and clinical practitioner who can demonstrate extensive clinical knowledge of acute clinical emergencies/critical care practice.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work autonomously whilst working closely with other team members, supported by our administrators.

We are a busy department with both clinical and education deliverables across the Trust, and will support your development and growth through service related and targeted education and training to enable you to be the best you can be.
• Be a specialist clinical expert within the field of resuscitation. Providing specialised knowledge, professional advice and clinical support for Trust staff, facilitating the best possible outcomes for cardiac arrest.
• To lead in the planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation of resuscitation training and education in accordance with Trust policy, the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation.
• To provide clinical and technical support and advice as an active member of the cardiac arrest team
• In association with the Clinical Lead for Resuscitation(Medical) and other clinical specialists develop, plan and deliver high and low fidelity resuscitation training and education packages which reflect current evidence and policy based practice using simulators and other relevant equipment.
• The post holder will be required to work autonomously with minimal supervision managing own workload and schedule.
• The post holder will provide joint leadership and management of the resuscitation team
• The post holder will be expected to uphold the code of their professional regulator and abide by Trust policies and procedures.

• Facilitate appropriate resuscitation training for all Trust staff according to the Trust Resuscitation Policy, ensuring that robust systems are in place to ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements.
• To organise, lead and facilitate the delivery of Resuscitation Council (UK) courses
• To lead the delivery and evaluation of resuscitation training programmes using high fidelity simulators that will be used across all staff groups and addresses patient safety.
• To work in partnership with the Clinical lead for resuscitation in the development and delivery of simulation training for medical staff.
• To be jointly responsible for managing the Resuscitation department, providing internal and external resuscitation courses.
• Acts as a specialist operator for the technical function of the high fidelity simulators.
• Promote high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical expertise and knowledge of patient safety principles/methodologies using resuscitation simulation.
• Maintain and update knowledge and expertise of using high fidelity resuscitation simulators for training purposes, understand the strengths and weaknesses of each system and participate in the selection of new and replacement simulators and equipment as required.
• Ensure training programmes continually reflect current standards and advice arising from national guidance and regulatory assessments.
• Promote and participate in educational research relating to resuscitation to improve the delivery of patient care.
• Create and develop a positive learning environment where staff development is encouraged and promoted.
• The post holder is expected to actively participate in the management of risk events submitted relating to resuscitation.
• Design and develop learning materials to assist staff attending training programmes.
• Carry out competency assessments of appropriate staff where necessary.

The post holder will have a high degree of precision and the necessary physical skills required for performing and teaching resuscitation skills such as defibrillation and advanced airway management.
