Engineering Shift Manager
3 on / 3 off basis, 7 am to 7 pm

If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be the Engineering Shift Manager we are looking for!

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Shift Manager to join our Client Food Manufacturing site in Nottingham, You will work with a mix of older and newer technology and help them deliver the site-wide automation programme that will introduce robotic technology to the plant.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the engineering work carried out by your team, both reactive and planned, is completed in a timely, efficient and safe manner, reducing downtime and maintaining quality standards and people safety in all food production areas.

As an Engineering Shift Manager, you will:

Co-ordinate and lead a team of multiskilled engineers, motivating and engaging them to ensure productivity and innovation, fostering and creating a positive work environment, and recognising and rewarding achievements

Conduct team meetings, individual PDRs and any potential low-level disciplinaries

Ensure all production processes are seamless, through troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise, fully supporting the company KPIs and Production targets

Minimise machinery downtime, through prompt response to reactive and predictive maintenance

Co-ordinate maintenance priorities with the team and opposite Engineering Shift Manager to ensure all maintenance activities are planned and executed efficiently

Ensure the team consistently implement and maintain safety protocols to uphold a safe and secure working environment for themselves and all colleagues

Effectively investigate and address any engineering-based / related incidents, accidents and near misses to prevent re-occurrence

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, technical and hygiene when addressing downtime and PPMs, to optimise efficiency and quality standards

Deputise for the Engineering Manager in appropriate meetings, as required

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Previous man-management experience, preferably from a FMCG environment

Self-motivation and ability to work under pressure in a calm and controlled manner

Excellent adaptive communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable clear understanding at all levels, from shop floor operatives to executive leadership team, auditors and retailers

A passion for engineering and a flair for leading a team of multiskilled engineers

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of dedication, enthusiasm and professionalism. The role operates on a 3-on / 3-off basis, 7 am to 7 pm, with some degree of flexibility to support your team.
