Location: Wightwick, Wolverhampton WV6
Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is a 14-year-old male living in the Wightwick area of Wolverhampton who is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support with personal care Monday to Friday and community access support on the weekends.
Our client has Cerebral Palsy and is non-verbal but communicates with hand signs. Our client is wheelchair dependent and requires assistance with all activities of daily living.
Main duties:
Social duties
attend suitable local activities during the weekend.
Personal care: Support with showering, teeth cleaning, dressing, and eating.
These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Specific requirements: someone with experience of working with children with Cerebral Palsy Someone with previous care experience. Someone who has experience of using moving & handling equipment such as a hoist and wheelchair. Someone familiar with Makaton/Sign Language.
Hours of work: 10 hours per week – Monday to Friday 45 minutes AM & 3.5 hours at the weekends.
Rate of pay: £11.30 per hour
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
driving licence
car and appropriate insurance
previous care & support experience
previous experience of using moving & handling equipment
confidentiality
good at building relationships
specialist communication skills, British Sign Language or Makaton,
Preferred:
good communicator
a good listener
ability to support people with complex care & support needs.
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
