Job description
We seek dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team at a reputable Children's Residential Care Home specialising in Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD). As a Support Worker, you will be vital in providing care and support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development. Key Responsibilities: Care and Support: Provide day-to-day maintenance and support to children and young people through their care plans and relevant policies and procedures. Emotional Support: Establish and maintain positive relationships with residents, offering emotional support and actively listening to their concerns. Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management strategies to support residents in managing their emotions, behaviours, and social interactions. Daily Living Activities: Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, and recreational activities. Personal Development: Encourage and support residents in achieving personal development goals, including education, life skills, and independence. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident activities, progress, incidents, and any relevant information as required by the care home. Safeguarding: Comply with safeguarding procedures and policies, taking appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with colleagues, professionals, and external stakeholders to promote a holistic approach to resident care. Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises promptly and appropriately, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of all residents. Continuous Learning: Participate in relevant training and professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills in working with children with EBD. Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience working in a similar role within a children's residential care home or a related field is desirable. Knowledge and understanding of emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and young people. A compassionate and caring approach with the ability to build trusting relationships with residents. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, colleagues, and external professionals. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins, as required. Note: A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory for this role.Job tags
