Designer / CAD Technician / Draughtsperson who has experience using design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Solid Edge or similar products with an eye for detail and a passion for creating high-quality designs is required for a well-established company based in Dudley, West Midlands.

SALARY: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Designer / CAD Technician / Draughtsperson who has experience using design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Solid Edge or similar products with an eye for detail and a passion for creating high-quality designs.

The company specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of retail environments. Ideally you will have previous experience in fixture design or shopfitting with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects.

Working as the Designer / CAD Technician / Draughtsperson you will play a crucial role in conceptualising, designing and overseeing the production of fixtures & displays that enhance the retail environment for customers.

As the Designer / CAD Technician / Draughtsperson you will use a blend of creative design skills, technical proficiency, and project management capabilities to ensure the successful implementation of customer products that align with brand aesthetics and maximise functionality.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Designer / CAD Technician / Draughtsperson include:

• Establish and develop productive, professional relationships with key stakeholders

• Develop innovative and visually appealing fixtures designs that align with the customers briefs, ensuring it’s on their brand identity and enhances their customer experiences

• Sources appropriate materials based on durability, cost and aesthetic considerations whilst staying informed about industry trends

• Creates detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing, ensuring compliance with safety standards

• Assist with building prototypes to test functionality and aesthetics, gather feedback and make necessary final adjustments before final production

• Identify and resolve any design or production issues that may arise during the course of a project

• Integrate sustainable practices into fixture designs, considering materials, production processes and end of life considerations

• Assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an on-going basis

• Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while co-ordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel

• To be fully conversant in all aspects of the internal procedures, financial process and product development

• Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

• Develop a detailed project plan to track progress

• This position requires extensive travel and out of hours work

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• A passion for creating high-quality designs

• Proficiency in design software (e.g. AutoCAD, SketchUp, Solid edge) and a good understanding of manufacturing processes

• Proven experience in fixture design or shopfitting, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects

• Ability to work autonomously with excellent time management skills

• A natural multitasker with a self-motivated "can-do" attitude

• Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

• Sound problem solving skills and ability to think clearly and logically
