Job description
Role: Self Check Out Design Manager (Store Design) Purpose of role: Principle liaise and co-ordinator on behalf of space and design dept supporting the delivery of self-check outs into the business. Day to day design management supporting the delivery of service areas within existing estate and into new stores Support the strategic development of the Brand by managing and delivering retail design solutions and principles from conceptualisation through to on site delivery. Ensuring all works are on trend, budget and time. Self check-out (SCO) Responsibilities :
- Collate and provide all design information, briefings and planning mark ups to allow internal and external teams to create scope proposals for each site.
- Create layouts of all SCO retrofit areas working with other dept as required to define optimal locations, qtys, queuing and navigation
- Review, feedback and sign off of all Architects’ plans
- Drive the development of all signage, graphics and navigation in collaboration with Brand
- Manage all SCO associated projects delivering design elements on time
- Create and maintain design and planning guidelines for all SCO systems as required to ensure consistent delivery of services.
- Provide additional design solutions and governance on a case by case basis.
- Produce presentations and present to key business stakeholders as required, attending post install reviews and sign offs
- Provide design support for additional service areas and in store features as required
- Advise brand team of any changes to lightboxes and TOV spaces so asset management databases can be updated.
- Work to keep costs to a minimum whilst providing operational and sales optimisation within stores
- Work with fixture development and procurement teams to ensure design are optimised for cost efficient whilst retaining their design integrity
- Identify relevant stakeholders and work cross functionally to create commercial design solutions for roll out into existing and new stores.
- Support the design of our stores, working with key stakeholders to optimize the customer journey and experience in balance with product density and presentation principles.
- Have full cognizance of Primark’s retail DNA (and online presence) and support its appropriate evolution through new retail design.
- Maintain a working knowledge of long term 2D assets and signage to ensure they are integrated correctly into new designs and planning principles, collaborating with Brand to develop new tools where required.
- Design consultation service for the construction teams to provide bespoke solutions and design guidance for projects.
- Create approved guidelines and ensure designs are added to the Guru system and provide training as required
- Manage relationships with external designers, agencies and suppliers, making sure to provide all the information needed to implementation teams and suppliers.
- Maintain a current knowledge of production techniques, materials and finishes with a bias towards sustainability and ecology, to support our Primark Cares values.
- Maintain and up to date knowledge of current retail design trends.
Essential knowledge, education, skills and experience : • A Degree in Architecture or Design, or minimum 5 years of relevant experience in retail design • Proficiency in Sketchup and Adobe applications is preferential • Proficiency in AutoCAD and office is required • Experience in retail space planning an advantage • Familiarity with other 3D modelling software is beneficial • Must have a high level of design skills • Must have a high level of project management skills • A bility to sketch and hand draw is an advantage • Knowledge of manufacturing standards, materials and construction methods • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to trouble shoot during the course of a project • Strong organisational skills with a can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail • Ability to lead and work well as part of a team and cross functionally with other teams to ensure successful projects • Proven ability in managing sensitive matters whilst ensuring all Primark information remains confidential to the business. • Must be able to work well under tight deadlines and able to reprioritise efficiently • Self-starter able to work under own initiative, taking projects from start to finish • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
