Technical Compliance Manager
Location: Ashford, Kent
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday to support a 24/5 factory running
Contracted Hours: 37.5hrs per week
Salary: Up to £52k per annum (dependant on experience)
As a Technical Compliance Manager, you will take ownership to provide the appropriate expertise to facilitate the continuous improvement of processes, systems and operations with the aim of ensuring compliance to required standards and improving quality, performance and costs.
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager and oversees a team consisting of a Technical Compliance Officer and QA Compliance Administrator. The site is currently facing an exciting time of expansion with the introduction of smart factory technology and additional products and lines.
Due the nature of this role there will a requirement to work alongside colleagues in the factory.
What you will be doing:
Compliance, Food Safety & Quality management
- Lead the HACCP agenda for the site, management of allergen risk assessment and site due diligence programme.
- Work with the QA Manager and teams to ensure accurate implementation and analysis of agreed standards.
- Measure, evaluate and propose Continuous improvements on food safety and quality management systems.
- Keep up to date with and act on legal requirements, codes of practice etc using gap analysis.
Audits/Site standards
- Facilitate and act as technical lead for 3rd party audits and customer visits as required.
- Manage and coordinate mock recall challenge testing
- Completion of customer due diligence questionnaires and assistance to the specification team in customer specification queries
KPIs and Customer Liaising
- Reports and trends on gathered data to drive continuous improvement, creating IT based solutions where applicable.
- Provide support to the Customer Services Team and Technical Account Managers for consumer complaints and non-conformances e.g. Private Label, Environmental Health and Trading Standards
- Works closely with the Care Line team to pro-actively manage customer complaints, engaging with the relevant on-site functions to facilitate thorough investigations, including root cause and preventative measures and issue appropriate site responses to agreed timelines.
- Calculate KPI’s for complaints, right first time and process adherence. Identify trends on a monthly basis and produce concise reports for Operators, peers and Senior Management in a timely and accurate manner to drive improvement actions.
What we need from you:
- Appropriate degree/qualification e.g. at least HNC in a science related discipline, preferably in Food Science/ Technology or Quality Assurance
- Certificate in Food Safety Level 4
- HACCP Level 4
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems and BRC/Retailer requirements
- Internal auditing skills
- Knowledge of BRCGS standards, associated technical systems and accreditation
- Ability to draw conclusions from assessments and data
