The PR and Communications team is recruiting for a Publications and Communications officer to work for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
The Publications and Communications Officer sits within the wider PR and Comms team and will play a key role in helping the Charity achieve its objectives. The successful candidate will have experience delivering beautifully written, compelling copy in the right tone and to deadline. They will possess the ability to tell rational and emotional stories to engage audiences and drive a call to action; be able to enhance and protect the reputation of a charity and have strong stakeholder engagement skills.

• Work within a wider PR and Communications team to write, edit and share content that promotes the work of the Charity and Trust
• Work alongside the Senior PR and Communications Officer to identify and maximise opportunities to promote the Charity’s funding of life-saving research, modern patient environments and state-of-the-art equipment in the hospital
• Support the Senior PR and Communications Officer in providing a comprehensive media service which includes the proactive sell in of positive stories on the work of the charity
• Share knowledge and story content with the Charity’s Stewardship and Philanthropy Communications team for donor updates on Charity funded projects
• Build relationships with clinical colleagues and in particular, Charity-funded consultants, nurses, researchers, and allied health professionals to gain their support for Charity communications including press releases, tailored pitches, our suite of magazines, and other print media channels

• Work in lockstep every day with the rest of the PR and Communications team to share content and ideas that are mutually beneficial for both Charity and Trust communications.
• Build relationships with clinical colleagues and in particular, Charity-funded consultants, nurses, researchers, and allied health professionals to gain their support for Charity communications including press releases, tailored pitches, our suite of magazines, and other print media channels.
• Write and edit the Charity’s bi-monthly e-newsletter in collaboration with the wider PR and Comms team, and the Charity’s Marketing and Digital team.
• Write and edit the Charity’s quarterly impact Trustwide email in collaboration with the Senior PR and Communications Officer.
• With support from the Senior PR and Communications Officer, write and edit the Charity’s supporter magazine Progress in collaboration with the wider Communications team and the Charity’s Heads and Associate Directors.
• In collaboration with the Trust Internal Communications Manager, promote The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to 4,500 hospital staff, to help drive greater awareness of the Charity and its work across the hospital.
• Support the Senior PR and Communications Officer in providing a comprehensive media service which includes the proactive sell in of positive stories on the work of the charity.
