Job description
A great opportunity for you to start or develop your career as an Aerodynamics Analyst with our team here at Leonardo Helicopters.
In this highly technical role, you will investigate the physical phenomena, assisting with the analysis, testing and qualification of our products with respect to aircraft aerodynamics.
Working with the Aerodynamics team in Yeovil you will have the opportunity to engage in a broad range of activities from the design phase through to testing.
There is potential opportunity for travel in this role, within the UK and abroad.

What you’ll do as an Aerodynamics Analyst:
- Aerodynamic design of blades, airframes and airframe amounted components
- Design optimization using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques as well as specific and in-house tools
- Airloads calculation for design and stress analysis
- Drag estimation, reduction and control
- Intake and exhaust systems performance calculations
- Attending technical meetings and design reviews
- Specification and support of wind tunnel testing and data analysis
- Ice accretion simulations and aeroacoustics predictions
- Support other departments with design & analysis work
- Writing documentation (memos, technical notes and reports) for internal and external customers
What we need from you:
- Degree in relevant subject (Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering is preferred)
- Knowledge of aerodynamic principles, wind tunnel testing and Computational Fluid Dynamics/Panel methods techniques
- Basic knowledge of Flight Physics principles
- Attitude to problem solving with good analytical, critical thinking and logical skills
- Ability for creative and lateral thinking
- Methodical and organised approach
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional and cross-geographic team environments
The following is not essential but would be an advantage:
- Specific working knowledge of civil and military helicopter operations; airworthiness regulation
