Job description
St Michaels Per-School are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to assist our team. This is a bank hours role that will be called upon during busy periods or staff absence.
Purpose of the Job:
To Safeguard all children in a fun and happy setting, embracing the outside, with a holistic approach to learning. Inspiring independence, resilience and self confidence in a nurturing environment.
To work as part of the team under the direction of the Pre-school Manager and their Deputy.
To provide safe, high quality educational activities and to give emotional care for the children attending St Michael’s Pre-school.
Duties:
1) To have safeguarding forefront in all parts of your job, considering the children’s safety first and that of families, staff, volunteers and visitors.
2) To supervise Pre-school activities and interact with children, offering a suitable level of support and stimulation.
3) To ensure that the activities available are in line with the EYFS.
4) To undertake routine administrative tasks necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the Pre-school as requested by the Pre-school Manager.
5) To assist with the safe setting up of the Pre-school equipment inside the setting and in the garden and tidy at the end of the day.
6) Cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
7) Undertake kitchen duty when required.
a. Preparation and serving of snacks and drinks,
b. Cleaning equipment and room,
c. Maintaining hygiene practices and the Food safety book,
d. Ensuring Food allergies and dietary needs are met for all children..
8) Supervision of children entering the Pre-school at the start of each sessions.
9) Reporting of stock control of Pre-school consumables, e.g. paper, paint, snacks, drinks etc.
10) To support the Manager, and their Deputy, in responding to any abnormal event/incident or emergency that may occur during a session.
11) To advise the Manager, or their Deputy, of any concerns relating to children, the parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
12) To attend in-service training courses and meetings as required.
13) To maintain confidentiality with respect to any information relating to the children, their families or other Pre-school staff.
14) To abide by and implement the policies and procedures detailed in the St Michael’s Pre-school Policy Document.
Child and Staff Protection
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Post holders must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders, which have been made against them.
Training and Qualifications:
Recognised Pre-school related or early years educational qualification appropriate for fulfilling the role of bank staff such as NVQ2 or 3 in Early Years childcare and Education or the Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Persons Workforce to be supported by the following:
Ø First Aid
Ø Food Preparation and Hygiene Training
Ø Manual Handling Training
Ø Safeguarding Level 3
Ø Makaton Levels 1-4
