Job description
To work collaboratively with the Matron, lead Consultant and Divisional management team to review staffing requirements using a proactive approach to recruitment and retention. To initiate and prioritise modernisation developments within the Service as part of the business/strategic planning process. Ensuring staffing levels within the area are adequate to provide safe and effective care delivery. Maximising the resources that are available by competent duty rostering. Through effective negotiation and political awareness create an environment for partnership working and dissemination of information across multi-disciplinary teams. Lead the recruitment and selection of new staff. Lead the investigation of complaints related to own clinical area and support the review of complaints in other areas as deemed appropriate. Deputise for the Matron in his/her absence. As part of the Directorate Team assist with the development and implementation of the Trusts Business Plan and Strategy for Nursing. To manage the financial resources for the ward in an efficient and effective manner. Participate in the out of hours Women and Childrens management on-call rota. Ensure information on the Ward/Department Information System is correct and updated regularly when relevant. Develop strategies to seek the view and opinions of families to inform the current and future delivery of neonatal services. One day dedicated to Neonatal Clinical Governance per week.
